Jessica is depressed

Jessica Simpson has been appearing a little bit gothic lately, and even more spaced out than usual. Joe Simpson gives us the inside scoop on her life, saying she's been "having a tough time of late - both emotionally and physically."

"At the afterparty for sister Ashlee's Chicago debut in London, Simpson reportedly stormed out of the venue, shouting, "I don't want to be here - why won't people just leave me alone?" And at a shoot for a TV commercial recently, the singer was over an hour late due to a stomach bug. Hairdresser Ken Paves was overheard telling people, "Well, what do you want her to do? S**t her pants?"

Her dad and manager Joe Simpson told a British paper, "Jess is quite down at the moment. She's not comfortable talking to people as she's quite depressed and we're walking on eggshells."

Poor Jess. Nick is partying it up with Vanessa Minillo, Ashlee is starring in Chicago, and her father is still oogling her and gossiping about her.

You know things are bad when she won't even put her extensions in. That's self-destructive behavior to the extreme if I ever saw it.
