Scarlett takes the mic

Scarlett Johansson has signed a deal to make her first record, Scarlett Sings Tom Waits. The album is being recorded at the moment and sessions will continue through the winter, with a possible release next spring from Rhino Records' currently reactivated Atco label. The 21-year-old is recording a whole album of songs by premier singer/songwriter Waits.

Sources says the eventual release date will be coordinated to coincide with Johansson's movie schedule.

Here we go...another star taking over everything. Let's hope this latest actress-turned-singer crossover is slightly more successful than the Jennifer Love Hewitt's and Eddie Murhpy's of our time. I wonder how her voice sounds. I'm actually curious to hear her belt it out. And I must say, excellent choice of a debut song..."Scarlett Sings Tom Waits". It just screams hot hit and not at all boring elevator music.
